As a matter of justice and compassion, Columbia Road Health Services provides comprehensive, high quality, culturally sensitive primary care to persons
in the community who have limited access to health care. A faith based community health center, Columbia Road Health Services, through careful stewardship of funds, offers medical, mental health and social services regardless of ability to pay. We also seek to support and enrich the lives of patients by advocating for them on a personal and community basis, and instilling hope through encouragement and guidance for positive changes.
VOLUNTEER: Reach Out and Read
Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a national non-profit organization that promotes early literacy by giving new books and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud to their children. The ROR program provides the tools to strengthen children's developmental skills and prepare them for success in school. CRHS is always looking for volunteers to read to childrenin our waiting rooms in both English and Spanish.

Founded in 1968 and incorporated as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) in 1974 for the purpose of serving immigrant Latino youth, LAYC has grown from a small grassroots recreation center to a nationally recognized organization serving all low-income youth and families across the District of Columbia and in Maryland's Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. LAYC achieves its mission by operating a regional network of youth centers and public charter schools with a shared commitment to meet young people where they are and help them make a successful transition to young adulthood. LAYC provides multi-lingual, culturally sensitive programs in five areas; Educational Enhancement, Workforce Investment, Social Services, Art + Media, and Advocacy.
VOLUNTEER:
-Tutor-mentors needed to help ESL students at Roosevelt High School Bi-lingual tutors needed to help homeless and runaway youth
-Spanish literacy, math, and ESL tutors needed at LAYC's Next Step Public Charter School
-A Child Needs You! Consider being a foster parent
-Be a tutor for highly motivated high school students with LAYC's Upward Bound Program
-Lend a hand to middle and high school students who need extra help
-Administrative Assistant volunteer needed
-Become a Supplemental Services Provider (SES) tutor

Mary’s Center serves low-income, immigrant families whose linguistic and cultural needs would otherwise go unmet by public
or private health care systems. We link families to community services, informing them about the educational, housing,
and employment resources available to them. All our social and educational services are provided at no cost,
and no one is turned away from our medical services for lack of payment.

Sitar Arts Center provides multidisciplinary arts education to the children and youth of Washington, DC in a nurturing, creative community where young people discover their inherent talents and gifts. Fostering personal and artistic growth through the visual arts, music, drama, dance, digital arts and creative writing, the Center offers after-school, weekend and summer classes to more than 700 students a year, 80 percent of whom come from low-income households.
VOLUNTEER: Volunteers are the heart of Sitar Arts Center. Each week, more than 100 volunteers and partner organizations teach approximately 60 classes in visual art, dance, creative writing, drama, music, digital arts, and approximately 100 private music lessons.
Volunteers also assist the Center in data entry, mailings, and other administrative tasks, as well as offering pro-bono professional services such as legal, real estate, architectural, interior design, website design and photography.
Sitar Arts Center volunteers should have at least 3 years of experience in their artform, as well as a deep appreciation for the arts and a strong desire to share their gifts and talents with the children of Washington, DC.
